Camino Pilgrimage FAQ

  • In its current form, the Camino Pilgrimage is an intimate cohort for dominant culture male faith leaders who are seeking wholeness (peace) in their identity, vocation, and leadership.

We are in the process of discerning additional iterations for a diversity of demographics.

  • We create space for peers who want to do the good, hard, slow work of confronting conflicts within ourselves that inhibit our ability to lead more equitably and collaboratively through:

    • In-person experiences: 3-day opening retreat in San Diego and 8-day pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago in Portugal and Spain

    • Monthly online gatherings with teaching from our Faculty of Elders and discussion facilitated by our Pilgrim Guides

    • Monthly peer group gatherings for guided reflection and ongoing support

    • One coaching session

    • Invitation to our growing alumni network for ongoing formation and accompaniment

  • The Richard Rohr’s Center for Action and Contemplation is a core partner in supporting, sustaining and collaborating in this work.

Our Faculty of Elders includes: Rev. Stephanie Spellers, Brian McLaren, Mark Labberton, Leroy Barber, Nina Barens, Bart Tarman and Joe Bishop

  • Tuition: $2750. Includes all expenses except travel (to and from the opening retreat and the Camino de Santiago) and food on the Camino.

  • Applications open approximately 6 months in advance of the next Camino Pilgrimage. Individuals who have completed the Camino Interest Form will receive email notification when applications open.

Applications close when slots are filled or 2 months before the next Camino cohort begins.

  • Applications for the Camino are thoughtfully reviewed by the Journey Home team. If helpful in the discernment process, the team may reach out to applicants to schedule one-on-one conversations.

  • Download our Camino Guide for more information about the cohort, past and present participants, and the Camino de Santiago.
